Answer:
If you keep seeing the "Login incorrect. Please try again" message after entering your user name and password, check that the user name and password have been entered correctly. Try re-entering, and watch for the correct case (the site is case sensitive - make sure Caps Lock isn't turned on).

Answer:
If you see the " Your account has expired " message after entering your user name and password, you are using an out-of-date login. Get the current login information from your counselor, teacher, or whomever is helping you use GCIS.  

Answer:
If the user name and password fields clear after you enter your info, instead of taking you to the GCIS front page, it may be that the privacy setting of your Internet browser isn't allowing cookies.

Answer:
http://www.gcic.peachnet.edu/admin

This site is only for Site or Portfolio Administrators, you will need your Administration username and password for access.  This is not the same password that you use to access GCIS.

Q. What are the computer and browser requirements for GCIS? Go back to Questions

  • Windows – Firefox 1.5+ or Internet Explorer 6.0 SP1+
  • Mac – Firefox 1.5+ or Safari 1.3+

Answer:
Internet Explorer

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Help" menu (Apple or "Explorer" menu on the Mac), choose "About Internet Explorer"
  • note the version number

If less than the recommended browser version, go to the Microsoft web site to upgrade: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/

Mozilla

  • start Mozilla
  • from the "Help" menu ("Mozilla" menu on the Mac), choose "About Mozilla"
  • note the version number

If less than the recommended browser version, go to the Mozilla web site to upgrade: http://www.mozilla.org/releases/

Safari

  • start Safari
  • from the "Safari" menu, choose "About Safari"
  • note the version number

If less than the recommended browser version, go to the Safari web site to upgrade: http://www.apple.com/safari/

Q. How do I enable cookies? Go back to Questions

(Note: GCIS uses a temporary or session cookie to identify a user's session information. The cookie is deleted from your computer when you close your browser.)

Answer:
Internet Explorer 6 - Windows

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Options"
  • click the "Privacy" tab
  • click the "Default" button or move the slider to "Medium"
  • click "OK" to apply the changes

Internet Explorer 5 - Mac OS

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Edit" menu ("Explorer" menu in OS X), choose "Preferences..."
  • click open the triangle next to "Receiving Files", then click "Cookies"
  • in the drop down menu next to "When receiving cookies:", choose "Never ask" (or one of the "Ask" options)
  • click "OK" to apply the changes

Mozilla

  • start Mozilla
  • from the "Edit" menu ("Mozilla" menu in Mac OS X), choose "Preferences"
  • click the + sign or click open the triangle next to "Privacy & Security", then click "Cookies"
  • on the right-hand side of the window, click "Enable cookies for the originating web site only" (or one of the other "Enable" options)
  • click "OK" to apply the changes

Safari

  • start Safari
  • from the "Safari" menu, choose "Preferences..."
  • click "Security"
  • next to "Accept Cookies:", choose "Only from sites you navigate to" (or "Always")
  • close the preferences window to apply the changes

Answer:
Internet Explorer 6 - Windows

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Options"
  • click the "Security" tab
  • make sure the "Internet" zone icon is selected
  • click the "Custom Level" button and scroll down to "Scripting"
  • under "Active scripting", click "Enable"
  • click "OK" twice to apply the changes

Internet Explorer 5 - Mac OS

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Edit" menu ("Explorer" menu in OS X), choose "Preferences..."
  • click open the triangle next to "Web Browser", then click "Web Content"
  • on the right-hand side of the window under "Active Content", click "Enable scripting"
  • click "OK" to apply the changes

Mozilla

  • start Mozilla
  • from the "Edit" menu ("Mozilla" menu in Mac OS X), choose "Preferences"
  • click the + sign or click open the triangle next to "Advanced", then click "Scripts & Plugins"
  • on the right-hand side of the window under "Enable JavaScript for", click "Navigator" and make sure the boxes are checked in the list under "Allow"
  • click "OK" to apply the changes

Safari

  • start Safari
  • from the "Safari" menu, choose "Preferences..."
  • click "Security"
  • next to "Web Content:", click "Enable JavaScript"
  • close the preferences window to apply the changes

Q. How do I enable pop-up windows? Go back to Questions

(Note: GCIS uses pop-up windows to display various reports and information in GCIS and the Administration Tools.)

Answer:

Internet Explorer

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Options"
  • click the "Privacy" tab
  • uncheck the box "Prevent most pop-up windows from appearing"
  • click "OK" to apply the changes

Firefox

  • start Firefox
  • choose "Options" from the "Tools" menu ("Preferences" from the "Firefox" menu on the Mac)
  • click the "Content" tab icon
  • uncheck "Block pop-up windows"
  • click "OK" to apply the changes (close the window on the Mac)

Safari

  • start Safari
  • from the "Safari" menu, uncheck the "Block Pop-Up Windows" item

Q. How do I clear my browser cache? Go back to Questions

The browser cache is used to keep local copies of previously accessed documents. It reduces the time you need to be connected to the Internet. When a problem occurs, it is a good idea to clear your cache.

Answer:
Internet Explorer 6 - Windows

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Tools" menu, choose "Internet Options"
  • click the "General" tab
  • click the "Delete Files" button in the "Temporary Internet files" section
  • click "OK" on the popup box that appears
  • click "OK" when finished

Internet Explorer 5 - Mac OS

  • start Internet Explorer
  • from the "Edit" menu ("Explorer" menu in OS X), choose "Preferences..."
  • click open the triangle next to "Web Browser", then click "Advanced"
  • on the right-hand side of the window under "Cache", click "Empty Now"
  • click "OK" when finished

Mozilla

  • start Mozilla
  • from the "Edit" menu ("Mozilla" menu in Mac OS X), choose "Preferences"
  • click the + sign or click open the triangle next to "Advanced", then click "Cache"
  • on the right-hand side of the window, click on all buttons with "Clear Cache" or "Clear Disk Cache" or "Clear Memory Cache" in their name, selecting "OK" on any window which pops up
  • click "OK" when finished

Safari

  • start Safari
  • from the "Safari" menu, choose "Empty Cache..."
  • click on the "Empty" button

Q. How do I create a desktop shortcut to GCIS? Go back to Questions

Answer:
After you log in to GCIS, right-click on an empty space on the front page (not on any pictures or words) and click on "Create Shortcut" from the menu that appears.  You'll see a message, "A shortcut to the current page will be placed on your desktop" -- click "OK".

Q. What if clicking on a hyperlink does not do anything? Go back to Questions

Answer:
If you are using a Pop-up Blocker, configure it to always allow pop-ups from our web site.

Q. What if the streaming occupational videos do not run? Go back to Questions

Answer:
The streaming occupational videos are served from a remote server. If your network is behind a firewall, please unblock our video server's IP address 128.223.105.42 from your firewall.
