The elements of music often have an implicit concept of time, pitch, and energy. The presence or lack of these elements can be used to classify music. Test your knowledge and see if you know the  definitions of these commonly used terms.
 
Pitch
  1. a note

Pitch class (pc)
  1. pitches an octave apart
  2. enharmonic notes

  4. all pitches having the same name
     

Chord

  1. 3 or more pc’s considered simultaneously
  2. harmony
  3. notes played at once
  4. harmonic series
     

Enharmonic

  1. different notations for the same sound
  2. non-harmonic notes
  3. inharmonic partials
  4. same notation for different sounds


Interval

  1. two different pc’s
  2. distance between notes
  3. two pitches
  4. difference in frequency
