Program Profile: Fashion Design | Home | |||
| Informal perspective about a program of study. |
How I Got Started: People always told me that I had a good sense of style. I watch fashion shows on television and read all the latest fashion magazines so I can keep up with what is trendy. I keep a sketch book and colored pencils with me at all times in case I come up with new ideas for a shirt or dress design. My guidance counselor told me that I could take a materials class, which explores different kinds of fabrics. I want to take as many classes as I can to help prepare me for college.
What I Want to Study: Studying fashion design is a very exciting idea to me. I cannot wait to get started! Some important classes that I should sign up to take include drawing, history of fashion, pattern drafting, sewing, and computer aided fashion design. The sooner I can take my classes the better, because I can’t wait to see people walking around in clothes that I designed.
What I Can Do In The Future: After studying fashion design, I have many options for careers. My first option is to be a fashion designer and come up with different ideas for clothing. Another option for me is to become a fashion buyer, and go to fashion shows and buy clothing for a retail store. Or, I can work at fashion shows and help get everyone and everything organized.
